Anticipated for 2011

So it's been a slow couple of days in the world of hip-hop music. Therefore, i figured I'd go over some of the most anticipated stuff this year so far!

The Carter IV
This one we've been waiting on ever since Weezy went from Conscious Lyricist to Pop Sensation as a way to redeem himself. So far all we got was a revamped version of A Milli they decided to leave Corey Gunz in because he didn't completely body his new boss. Anyway as we eagerly await the now sober and post-prison Wayne return, the best we can do is, well, hope for the best.

Wiz Khalifa's Warner Bros Debut
So we've heard the mixtapes, we heard the independent albums, now it's time for our boy Wiz to take the mainstream on for size. We got the "mehhh" Black & Yellow single, but we also got the ever-so-dope remix. Will we get a Curren$y feature? Who knows! All I do know is that the lovable stoner's major label debut is being anticipated by nearly everyone I know.
J. Cole's Album and other collaborations
It was supposed to drop in September...it didn't. Than it was going to drop in October...it didn't. It's getting close to a year since the NC native released his album single, "Who Dat," and I for one am getting impatient. Thank god for that "Friday Night Lights" project or i may have lost all hope for the artist formerly known as Therapist. That's not all were waiting on though. We still need to hear those 3 joints him and the kid Kendrick Lamar recorded, the work he's said to have been doing with Dr Dre, and the Jay-Z feature he's been putting off for ever! Also, a Jay Electronica collab? That'd be dope as hell!
Act II
Still waiting on the Megatron Don's Act II album/mixtape/EP/motion picture/whateverthefuckitisnow! We Got Exhibit A and Exhibit C...hell, we even got a preview of an Exhibit A remix with Mos Def! We've heard him collab with Jay-Z, Curren$y, make a tribute to Guru and do some dope production work as well as work with Just Blaze...but where the hell is Act II?!
The Greatest Story Never Told
A record deal, 3 singles and a remix later, The Greatest Story Never Told is set to be released this February...on the Kottonmouth Kings record label? (am i reading this right?) Anyways...i like the previously leaked artwork better than this crap, but 6 years in the making? I'm pretty pumped for this joint...one question remains though...where is Papoose and his Nacirema Dream?
Watch The Throne
First it was a 5 track EP...now its a full length collaboration between H to the izzo and the Louis Vuitton Don. With the first single (HAM?) set to drop the 11th, and hearing the past chemistry this duo has had...this is definitely on my "to cop" list.
Setbacks
K-Dot's right hand man is set to drop his debut next tuesday! Underground hip-hop heads are anticipating this I know for a fact as Schoolboy Q does his best to make his album a trending topic on twitter...#SETBACKS
Anything from G.O.O.D. Music

After Kanye's Good Fridays and his tremendously successful album, it's safe to say we can anticipate anything dropping from this juggernaut of a label this year. As of right now here is what we're waiting on: Big Sean- Finally Famous: The Album, Consequence: ConsTV, an album from Mos Def, a mixtape and a solo album from Pusha T, an album from CyHi Da Prynce, more Good Fridays.
Process of Illumination
The rapping debut of underground producer B Dvine. (whose done beats for Killa Sha, Solomon Childs, J Love, Meyhem Lauren, Kool G Rap...the list goes on..) He's my boy so i had to throw his ass up here because i personally can't wait to here this son of a bitch rap for an entire mixtape and see how he does! In the words of Antwan Millennium...BORN DVINE!!

Take Care
I'd be a filthy liar if I said I'm not waiting on the second album from Drizzy Drake. Thank Me Later was doper than i expected and I'm hoping Jimmy will skip the sophomore slump and present even more dope material.
Possible Littler Brother Reunion
If not, at least a 9th Wonder/Phonte reunion track! When this flick hit the net, backpackers (like myself) crapped there pants with excitement. We can only hope for the best!
Wu-Tang VS Shaolin
So after 8 Diagrams dropped a few years back, The Chef was not too happy with the beat selection made by RZA...so he decided to put out his own Wu album...that eventually got backseated to Cuban Linx 2 and Wu Massacre. Well, it;s finally on it's way! (along with another Rae solo album) Butter Knives is the first single and it's nasty...cant wait for the rest of it!

Detox
This has been on very anticipation list since 2003. As we actually get signs of it dropping this year (Kush, I Need A Doctor, cosigns from Kendrick Lamar) it's pretty safe to say it may actually see the light of day. All we can do now is pray...I need to stop rhyming these sentences...

If I missed anything your waiting on lemme know!

The Blogpacker's Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of 2010

Since it's officially day 2 of 2011, we've decided to give you what we consider the top 10 hip-hop albums of 2010! If you didn't give any of these albums a listen, definitely check them out, they're on the list for a reason!

10 - Thank Me Later- Drake: Drake has always been holding it down for the backpackers and although he tends to stray a bit from his roots here, the outcome was still pretty dope and we gotta give respect where it's due!

Notable Tracks: Thank Me Now, Light Up (f. Jay-Z), Fireworks (w/ Alicia Keys)

9 -  Recovery- Eminem: Okay, so we didn't get the Eminem back we all hoped for...but we got the next best thing, a more mainstream, yet still very lyrical Eminem. Although he goes for some pop cross overs on this album, it's still 10 times better than that Waka Flocka Flame album.

Notable Tracks: 25 to Life, Cinderella Man, No Love (f. Lil Wayne)

8 -  Pilot Talk (1 & 2)- Curren$y: Like i said before, Ive been a big fan of Spitta for a minute now. Curren$y put out both the first and second volumes of his Pilot Talk series out this year and honestly, they could have been one album. With an array of his classic stoner songs, his mumbly delivery that many of us have grown to love, his pot induced yet witty wordplay and a plethora of dope cameos, it would be a crime to not include these projects on the list.

Notable Tracks: PT1- Audio Dope II, Life Under the Scope, Skybourne (f. Smoke DZA & Big K.R.I.T.)
PT2- Hold On (f. Young Roddy & Trademark), Famous, Real Estates (f. Dom Kennedy)

7 - K.R.I.T. Wuz Here: Big K.R.I.T. is definitely an artist to watch in 2011. This album was made with 100% original production from the man himself. K.R.I.T. specializes in the southern style of music that ruled the year of 2005 with the lyricism that we've all adapted to. Don't worry, if you don't feel like droppin some dough on a guy you never heard of, K.R.I.T. let this bad boy go for free...so why not pick it up?

Notable Tracks: Glass House (f. Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa), Country Sh!t, Moon & Stars (w/ Devin the Dude)

6 - Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager- Kid Cudi: This dark sequel to his 2009 debut is just as dope as the first installment. The only bump int he album's flow is the Kanye west assisted pop single, "Erase Me" which essentially serves no place on the album. However, the rest of the album is dope as ever and is substantially part of any music fan's collection.

Notable Tracks: Ashin Kusher, Marijuana, GHOST!

5 - Apollo Kids- Ghostface Killah: You didn't think we'd have a list without a Wu album did you? Apollo Kids is Ghostface's album of the year. (he seems to drop one each year recently...we're not complaining) Unlike last years R&B crossover attempt, the infamous GFK returns to his Wu-Tang roots with a dope array of notable features that take nothing away from the finished product. Wu fans, eat you hearts out!

Notable Tracks: In The Park (f. Black Thought), Drama (w/ Joell Ortiz & Game), Starkology

4 - The Adventures of Bobby Ray- B.o.B: Anyone who was conscious in 2010 knows at least one song by this gentlemen. Although a little more pop-oriented, Bob sticks to his roots and pleases the fans with a complete album you can listen to from start to finish. Also, who didn't know every word to the Eminem remix of Airplanes?

Notable Tracks: Fame, Bet I (f. TI & Playboy Tre), Past My Shades (w/ Lupe Fiasco)

3 - Distant Relatives- Nas & Damian Marley: Probably one of the most overlooked albums this year. Nasty Nas teams up with the offspring of the face of Reggae music to put this masterpiece together. Both artists styles blend so well together you would think they've been doing this for years. Pick it up and don't miss out!

Notable Tracks: My Generation (f. Lil Wayne), As We Enter, Nah Mean

2 - Overly Dedicated- Kendrick Lamar: K-Dot is THE artist to watch in 2011. After a recent co-sign by Dr Dre, doing work with J. Cole (where's the album at bruh!) and running his own independent label, the "Black Hippy" member is definitely doing big things in the next year. His debut album was not only released for free (buy it on iTunes if your not cheap!) but it was one of the top hip-hop releases of the year.

Notable Tracks: Average Joe, Ignorance is Bliss, Growing Apart (To Get Closer)

1 - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy- Kanye West: Who would have thought after more than half of your album being leaked and releasing a new song every week the finished project would be the album of the year? Kanye was that confident in his 5th album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy." From cover to cover, this album is beautiful, filled with emotion and relatable concepts. Without a doubt, number one on our list.

Notable Tracks: Lost In A World (f. Bon Iver), Devil In A New Dress (f. Rick Ross), Blame Game (f. John Legend & Chris Rock)

Skillz- 2010 Rap Up

For those who don't know, Skillz is a rapper from Virginia, a dope one if i might add. Anyway, every year since god knows how long agi, Skillz has hit us with the past years in review via his "Rap Up" series. Well, this year is no different. Make sure you support dude and buy the track on iTunes...I know you can spare the dollar!

iTunes link: 2010 Rap Up

Prolifik- The Voice of CT (Mixtape)

Prolifik drops off his B Dvine hosted mixtape, "The Voice of CT" featuring exclusive B Dvine Remixes, production and some of Prolifik's best work from the past few years. If you are not up on the dude from CT, here's where you can get your start!

Nas- Who Are You (Tagged)

New joint from Nasty the villain. My bad that it's tagged to high heavan by some annoying ass DJ...new Nas is worth it though!

New Raekwon Coming in March!

Good news for all my fellow Wu-Heads out there. Raekwon has not only announced his new album, "Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang" to be dropping in March, he's also let loose of a few features on the project. As of now, The Chef has said Wu-Tang memebers Method Man, Inspectah Deck and The GZA will appear on the album along with with past collaborator and hip-hop legend Nas, the ever-so-dope Roots frontman, Black Thought, Diplomats "Capo" Jim Jones and the self proclaimed Teflon Don, Rick Ross. (no, not John Gotti) Word to HHDX for the info.

Curren$y- Return to the Winner's Circle (Mixtape)

Curren$y hits us with the first new mixtape of 2011. I don't know about you guys, but I've been a big Spitta fan for a minute now. So roll one up and Just Enjoy This Sh!t (JETS!)
